Panelist Bios:

Elenor Flemming 

As a formally trained social scientist, epidemiologist, and licensed dentist, Dr. Elenor Fleming brings an interdisciplinary approach to dental public health. Her interest in dentistry has always centered in social justice, and she takes the work that she does as an epidemiologist, clinician, researcher and teacher to advance oral health equity. Dr. Elenor’s previous work focused on measuring population-level oral health outcomes, improving state, national, and international surveillance, and describing disparities. This work informed interventions, research, and policy efforts, and improved practices. Her current work focuses on equity with: (1) a lens the science of addressing racism in dentistry and (2) inquiry around diversifying the workforce to create pathways for Black, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native people from joining the dental profession. Throughout her career, Dr. Elenor has supported students and dentists from historically marginalized groups in pursuing careers in dental public health.

Monique Sanders

Monique M. Sanders is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Get Stemulated, LLC. Her organization provides supplementary educational program delivery and STEM education facility design management for organizations looking to encourage youth to develop an interest in STEM. Ms. Sanders is also the Staff Technical Safety Engineer for Johnson & Johnson in Athens, GA. She has held roles in manufacturing engineering, procurement and project management with entities such as U.S. Coast Guards, Syngenta Crop Protection, Ethicon Endo Surgery, Inc. and Janssen Pharmaceutical, Inc. She is influential in her community as a member of the  Athens Clark County Government Planning Commission and was recently honored by the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce with a “Gamechangers” Award as one of the top 10 under 40 influencers in the city. Monique holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering and a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Project Management.
